On 05 October, 2016 the Grodno Regional Executive Committee hosted the first Steering Committee meeting for the project «Support and training for Food processing enterprises in Grodno Oblast - Establishment of Grodno Agro-Industrial Park (GAIP) in Belarus». The Steering Committee is envisaged to meet at least twice a year to monitor progress, efficiency and effectiveness of the programme implementation and provide strategic guidance. Representatives of all strategic project partners and counterparts were resent at the meeting, as well as the project manager himself Mr. Karl Schebesta, Chief of Food Systems and Nutrition Division from UNIDO headquarters in Vienna.
During the meeting ongoing as well as planned project activities, such as the award for the open international tender for the feasibility study of establishing the GAIP to a Polish Research Institute “Office for Economic Policy and Regional Development” and the upcoming workshop on the methodology of research by international experts, were reviewed and discussed.
Also, on the bilateral side, some understandings for further cooperation were reached with the Grodno State Agrarian University, as the key project partner, and the administration of the Free Economic Zone “GrodnoInvest” on exchange of best practices and experience in management of clusters and parks.
The next Steering Committee meeting will is tentatively scheduled for the 1st quarter of 2017.
